The Praise: This book was SO good. I was glued to the pages, dying to see what happened to Obedience and Ronan next. The cult itself was so interesting and it was unnerving how quickly the congregation went from anger and violence to remorse and devotion. Witnessing Obedience slowly realizing that everything she thought she knew was a lie was heartbreaking but satisfying. Ronan was such a complex character who ultimately just wanted to keep Obedience safe, regardless of what it cost him.

The Critique: Honestly the only problem I had was that the author referred to orgasming as a “liquid sensation” too many times.

Final Thoughts: The characters and their relationships were so nuanced, the plot was riveting, and I can’t wait for the next book! This was a favorite of the year so far.
