The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary

5.0

Synopsis: Tiffy breaks up with her on and off boyfriend and needs a place to live in London (something cheap and fast). Leon works the night shift as a nurse and needs some extra cash so he rents out his place at nights/weekends to Tiffy. All their friends thought this was a crazy idea.

Review: I Loved this book! This was an instagram recommendation and I’m so glad I picked it up. Im always on the lookout for a good audio book and this one is so good in audio. There are two POVs (Tiffy and Leon) and each has its own narrator with amazing British accents. The story has some depth and its not just a fluffy “romantic comedy”.

I don’t want to give anything away, but I loved Tiffy and Leon’s story. I loved how they didn’t meet until about half way through the book, they develop a friendship without even meeting (I loved the notes they left to each other at home). The build up to them meeting was spot on. The scene when they met was hilarious and the ending made me cry (that’s how I know it’s a good book).

The audiobook has an interview with the author at the end which is always great! I wish all audiobooks had this.

Favorite quote:
“My dad likes to say, ‘Life is never simple’. This is one of his favorite aphorisms. I actually think it’s incorrect. Life is often simple, but you don’t notice how simple it was until it gets incredibly complicated, like how you never feel grateful for being well until you’re ill, or how you never appreciate your tights drawer until you rip a pair and have no spares.”
