Eat & Run: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness
by Scott Jurek
Ironically enough, this book doesn't hit its stride until the later half. Most reading this will have varying opinions about how Jurek presents his story, which parts he emphasizes and which parts he glosses over, which feels appropriate for the innately bizarre and human sport of ultramarathons.
Having an extremely emotional scene of grief be followed by a recipe for chia pudding is just the kind of contradictory tone that places this book beyond a simple rating for me.
