The writer has great skill at hooking you early on (and writing very steamy scenes) but falls flat when it’s time for character growth or plot development. Honestly, I would have been happier if there was NO plot and it was just tied together scenes of them interacting. Overarching plots were poorly done with either too little growth or too much left unfinished. The biggest mystery of the book wasn’t even solved until the last few pages, and the reveal functioned more to advertise another installment than finish this one. I can forgive some of the taboo content going a bit too far for my taste, but the lackluster storytelling took an interesting concept and ruined it by the second half.
