Happy Place by Emily Henry

4.0

Okay, the first thing I need to say is that I have a very bizarre relationship with Emily Henry books. I love her characters. I ADORE the way she writes dialogue. I think the ideas behind her plots are good. But I can’t stand the way she adds conflict, and the way those conflicts are resolved.

So, I was really loving this book, but then everything was revealed and it just made me so irritated. I can’t explain why, maybe it’s because it hit too close to home LOL but something about the way everything goes down in her books just drives me crazy.

But I’m still going to give this book 4 stars because it really did impact me, and made me really feel like I was there with the characters. I could imagine the places they went, and the activities they did, and the whole story felt so real.

Oh! And do you know what else felt so real? The VERY serious topics that this book addressed. I know I already kind of hinted at that when I said it hit too close to home but the point I want to make now is that people advertise this as a romance wayyyyy too often. The romance is definitely a big part of it, but if I went into this not knowing that Emily Henry’s books deal with a lot of serious things, and that this book does that even more than her other ones, I would’ve been pretty angry lol
