A lovely read. A beautiful tribute from the author to her community and to the moments and people that raised her. As the accounting of an adolescence told through vignettes, pacing is slow so I don’t know if I would have enjoyed this as much if I tried to stretch it out over a long period of time. For once I think my binge reading served me well by giving me an opportunity to see larger swaths of Smith’s storytelling at a time.
