HOT Mess by Lynn Raye Harris

5.0

Georgeanne and Sam have know each other most their lives. Sam and Georgie's brother are best friends. She grew up with all the trappings of a affluent family and Sam grew up across town with parents on the brink of divorce and no real interest in him. Each has always had a place in their heart for the other, Georgie loving Sam from afar, but Sam is convinced his is not good enough for Georgie so he stays away. That is until her brother calls him up and asks for a favor.

I had an immediate connection to Georgie. I adored her spunk, her outlook on life and her ability to look clearly at her past and learn from it. Sam is a battered soul whose family life has caused him to think he is not good enough for someone to love. He knows he is good at his job and that confidence pours out on the page.

This is a novella, and I was sad when I read the last page. I found it to have just enough drama as to what would happen, and plenty of steamy scenes. While this is considered book 1.5 in the Hostile Operations Team series it can be read as a stand-alone. Matt Gerard does make an appearance in this novella and we learn a little of his HEA, but nothing that will get you lost if you haven't read Hot Pursuit. I bet after finishing this novella you will be buying Hot Pursuit!

I received this novella from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review
