These Queer Merboys by Serge ♆ Neptune

4.0

I possibly would have given this more stars, however, I am not really the intended audience - I have no love for poetry and no real grasp on how I would critique it.

So I can't comment on the *quality* of the poetry, but I can say that even as someone who doesn't particularly enjoy poetry, I enjoyed this collection. I would definitely recommend it, but especially to lovers of poetry, who might get more out of the format/genre than I did.

There is a mixture of whimsy and something a little darker which often goes with all forms of queer literature. My two favourite pieces were "A Child Comes Out as a Merman" and "Last time my Lover came Inside me", both of which really resonated with something deeper that queer people can relate to. A really wonderful collection over all.
