Ace of Betrayal by Jessica Jude, Jessica Jude

Ooooof. I was given the 2nd book of this series as an ARC so reading this one to get caught up and familiar with the characters. This just wasn’t it for me. Traditionally I prefer second chance romances with GROVELING and apologizing, etc. I could tell the gossip girl vibes but at least in gossip girl those characters have redeeming qualities that make you stick around. I felt all of the characters were shallow (literally and figuratively) and not developed enough to want to keep my attention. I understand the group is early/mid twenties but they just all seemed like immature entitled kids who gave zero fucks about anyone but themselves— including their “closest friends”. Walker was a decent character but she’s dumb for forgiving Heath and for forgiving her entire friend group. What the hell do you mean your ‘best friends’ were plotting to get you expelled from Oxford & sabotage your professional career and you find out and are like “ohhhhhh well I did make them upset 2 years ago so that’s fair”. WHAT!!!!!! Already started book two— hoping the plot line is more captivating and there’s some redemption with this friend group.
