Simon Greene has been looking for his daughter, Paige, convinced that if he could just find her he can help her beat her drug problem but when he eventually does find her in Central Park she doesn’t want to be helped and he loses her all over again. This is not the end of the story though, it’s actually only the beginning and Simon is about to find himself entangled in a mystery that has him questioning everything he thought he knew. 

I really enjoy Harlan Coben’s books.  He knows how to write a thriller and on the whole this is no exception. It’s fast paced and chock full of twists, although I did figure out the ending ahead of time. 

I love that Coben uses characters from other books, I read “The Boy From the Woods” earlier this year so loved seeing Hester Crimstein again in this one. I was a little confused by Elena Ramirez’s back story. There were a lot of hints about the death of her significant other and I initially assumed that she’s been in another book and I was just missing something but I’ve done a bit of googling and I can’t see that she has, which makes the hints a little odd and unnecessary. They don’t really add anything to the plot or the character. 

I did see the ending coming but that didn’t spoil anything for me really as there were still plenty of other twists along the way. 

Coben’s writing style is perfect for the thriller genre. He keeps you right on the edge of your seat and once you start reading you can’t stop. The chapters are short enough that you keep telling yourself, just one more! 

Coben is definitely an author I’d be happy to read more of as I don’t tend to ever be disappointed by his books.
