I really wanted to give this a 4 star. And I was going to. Until the ending.
About the book:
Hotshot Rugby player Cameron McGregor is staying at his cousins place for a few weeks. And his neighbour happens to be the introverted, otherwise shy (not around Cam) Joellen (I don't remember her last name or of it was even mentioned in the book?).
Things take a turn when the hot guy next door agrees to help Joellen land the man of her dreams whom she's been pining on for a decade (legit).
My thoughts:
I LOVED THE GUY. Like seriously. He's amazing! He's the whole reason I wanted to give this a 4🌟. I don't know why but even the authors previous book made me love the guy more than the girl.
On both the books the guy goes through more shit than the girl...so cue those heartbreaking cries .
I loved this one a lot more than the first book.
I'll be honest. I was going to DNF this book in the start. I usually don't go for these kinds of books but wow I'm glad I didn't stop.
Once you get over the starting bit it's really good!
I absolutely loved their banter. Loved their friendship.
Now for the few down sides:
I hated how long it took for the heroine to see Cam's love for her. Almost towards the end of the book.
I'll have you know. I kept checking which page and how much longer to the end because I DIDNT want it to end.
So back to hate...I hated how the way they handled the incident that happens with her CEO Michael. I was expecting more drama and jealous boyfriend punches and ...just more justice to the kind of offense that happened (hoping to not give too many spoilers)
Also wasnt a great fan of the age difference that suddenly hit me towards the end. Wasn't expecting that. At all. Would've been great to know about it from the start.
And ...maybe I was hoping for more of a heart to heart between the characters about their pasts and healing together?
I felt like Cam loved her more than she loved him at times.
Oh wait this remind me.
I friggin loved the sonnets that Joellen came up with! So good . So totally amazing. It's definitely going down in my quotes book for future re- reading.
Also, how can Cameron be this amazing after all that he's been through? (I know it's because he worked hard for it..but wow. It's amazing how strong he's been)
Pick this up if you love the 'guy tries to teach the art of seduction to an introvert because the girl wants to seduce another guy she's been in love with since forever' and they fall in love in the process. (I personally love it. It's amazing to see them learning little bits and quirks about each other over time and growing to love them from a sort of friends to lovers transformation).
Okay enough said. It's an awesome book if you're into that kind of thing.

I totally forgot the last bit. The acknowledgements. Whoa it blew me away. Wasn't expecting that and it hurt so bad after reading it. However this brings another conflict I have about this book...
Side note to the author: I loved how you tried to convey through your story that no matter what, love yourself because you are indeed beautiful. Also that starving oneself is foolish and like Cameron says the only thing we should aim at is being healthy no matter our size. We should cherish our body, it's our temple. We live and experience life through this body. I so strongly agree with Cameron it isn't even funny.
But...
It would've been great if the story wasn't looked at from only one side. Actually it wouldn't be hurtful if it had looked from only one side (the curvier girls) ....but it dissed the other side (the skinnier girls) of the spectrum while doing so. Which I don't particularly like. There are both kinds of women out there. Not just the curvy/plump/chubby one. There are also skinny girls who cry themselves to sleep because they don't have the curves or flesh . Just skin and bones.
Chubby girls try to shed weight but can only do it to an extent because it's their body structure. Same as with skinny girls. They can try all they want but not gain much because of their body structure. It wouldn't be fair to raise glory to one's pain by putting the other down is all I wanted to say.
