This book.

God. What a roller coaster of emotions.

The power of a mother’s love, but also the loneliness and the unselfishness of it.  Being a mother, a good mother, is draining.  It’s exhausting and it’s never-ending. But the beauty of it is that the love that you feel within your soul because you are a mother, makes it feel as easy breathing.

This book follows Elsa and her turning of age choices and the hardships she faces as a women during the Great Depression trying to survive the drought, the Dust Bowl and motherhood.

This book was beautiful and tragic and devastating.  Kristin Hannah painted the most beautiful picture in my head and I hope I never forget it. I hope I never forget Elsa’s strength, Loreda’s growth and Jack’s love.

And Rafe can go kick rocks. And choke on them. And die.
