Around the World in Eighty Days
by Jules Verne
Certainly a work reflective of its time, with the cultures of the world being explored and exposed to each other at a large scale. While I can't relate to any of the characters and the surprise romance at the end baffles me, I understand I'm reading this from a completely different socio-political context than it was written. I can see why it would have been popular in its time, and the concept is inspiring. As it is, in present day, it's just okay for me. Hit me with an updated retelling and I'm sure I'd love it.
