The first time I saw him, I knew I'd never want another man the way I wanted him.
It's lovely to be back with another Eva Winners read. If you're familiar with her, you'll know why I can't get enough of this woman and her killer novels. Corrupted Pleasure is only the latest in the long-line of them, and I have a feeling this one is going to be a knockout with new and existing readers alike.
It did with me. It's officially one of my must reads for 2022 and its a top read too. It's been a hot minute since I've added a book to both lists, so congrats to Eva for creating a bombshell of a book (in a good way), that's landed in both.
The second time, I drank a bottle of his most expensive cognac, which I'd never be able to afford on my own.
Again, if you're familiar with Eva and her work, you'll know that she doesn't shy away from writing the nitty, the gritty, the steamy, the sexy and the darker then average book. Throw in hot mafia men from around the world too, those are important. Corrupted Pleasures focuses mainly on these tropes:
✅ Tight knit friendship
✅ Forbidden romance
✅ Irish mafia
✅ Age Gap
If you're a fan of those or are looking to explore any of those tropes, you're in luck. This read has these tropes defined and down to a fine art. For those who might be a bit unsure of age-gaps, don't be. I promise you that this read actually handles it with respect and dignity for both the younger and older person in the relationship. I've read only a few age-gap romances here and there, most play on the safe side being contemporary romance, but Corrupted Pleasures takes the road down the tempting and the forbidden, and that's what makes this one so tantalising and unforgettable.
And the third time… well, he caught me stealing from him.
The storyline itself is one which took a turn I didn't expect. Again, not for the bad. As outlined in the blurb, our leading lady, Davina, steals from our leading lad, Liam, and as per the course with Alpha Hero men, there will be consequences and believe me, there were some pleasurable consequences. Those aside, from the moment the theft occurred, I expected it to go the route of keeping her firmly under his hand--or rather, under him--, but we have a strong, determined and independent female on our hands folks! Fearless and brave, Davina takes our dames to acts of reckless daring do, and it was a welcome change of scene and pace from the expectations and typical storyline standards. Bravo Eva!
Stealing from the head of the Irish Mafia wasn't smart. But then I never claimed to be.
Storyline aside, let's talk hotness! As stated in the title, we were going to get both corruption and pleasure. The former is eased into the novel as seen with Davina's character development--and those of her girl gang--, but the latter is so hot, I said to Eva it should come with a warning level. Liam Brennan is in a league all his own, and he's not messing around when it comes to pleasures of both his flesh and Davina's.
I think you'll all love the hotness/steaminess of this novel, one hundred percent!
Now I owed him a debt… a big one. And it couldn't be settled with money, or favors. He only wanted one thing… Me.
And without giving anything or too much away, the novel is rounded off in such a way I as a reader, and no doubt others too, love so so much. All I'll say is this, we do of course get our HEA, and considering all the chaos and corruption that Corrupted Pleasures ensued, the ending is only sweeter when we get to it.
Submitting to his darkest demands. Once the debt is settled he’ll let me go. Except he is forbidden to me. Because if I were smart… I'd figure out another way to repay my best friend's father.
So settle on down, grab those snacks and prepare to pull an all-nighter. It will be worth missing out on sleep for these two and their story.
