This was an excellent addition to this series. And, I especially love how the dynamics between all three of the monster x human couples so far feels so unique to them (rather than just the same dynamic with new characters.) Each of these books really stand on their own while telling a really compelling overarching story.

Ghost has been living out in a raider camp in the wastes for years alongside his best friend Rig. When the two are sent to a nearby abandoned military bases to scavenge for supplies they find more than they bargained for. While the rest of the monsters who were kept in captivity escaped, one was left behind. Unable to leave the poor beastie bound and alone, Ghost and Rig decide to take him back to the camp to and try to help him. However, the monster's presence in the camp doesn't go unnoticed and soon brings danger to their doorstep. And, Ghost will be forced to decide what he's willing to do to protect this gentle (and possibly dangerous) monster he's falling for.

Ghost are Aury are both so freaking sweet. Ghost just wants to be useful because he can't imagine any other reason for people to want him to stick around, and Aury is terrified of his own powers and of accidentally hurting people which honestly makes them perfect together. Ghost needs someone who really sees him and wants him, and Aury needs someone who believes in his goodness. They do that for each other.

Three Thoughts:
1. Anchor really ticked me off. And, while we got some resolution, there wasn't enough groveling for me.
2. No redemption arcs for homophobes. Cutter was treated better than he deserved - he is literally the human embodiment of a trash can.
3. This series has so many good found family vibes, and this book kick it up a notch for sure. Rig + Ghost = BFFs 4Eva

Rig's book is next - and I cannot wait. And, if Mary is still alive by the time the book is over, I'm going to be so bummed. If you haven't picked up this series yet, you should fix that ASAP.
