The Lake of Tears by Emily Rodda
3.0
3 stars
An improvement over the first entry, The Lake of Tears flourishes without the burden of setting up the story and allows Emily Rodda to flex some creative muscle, particularly with the new monsters and races introduced. Unfortunately, it also highlights a recurring issue with these novels - weak climaxes that are resolved too quickly and abrupt denouements that are wholly unsatisfying.
