I was expecting the Tom Sawyer book to be better, but I liked this one more. Tom is full of nonsense and he is always the annoying leader, so I guess I could empathise better with Huck Finn.
It is a nice coming of age story, with him and slave Jim escaping, and getting into adventures they didn't ask for.
They find good people, and some real mean awful scoundrels too, which add some spice to the adventure.
Sad to see how the white thought s poorly of the black people, even if they still liked them somehow, and were "good slave owners". Those were not pleasant times, but come to think of it, neither are these.
