The Crying Book by Heather Christle

4.0

This is a moving work of prose-poetry that owes a lot to Bluets by Maggie Nelson. Maybe it’s unfair to compare them and I should just rate this on its own, but everything from the niche-but-broad subject matter, to the interweaving of historical research with autobiography, and even the prose style, is so reminiscent of Bluets.

While it doesn’t quite reach Nelson’s heights of lyricism, it is still a fantastic piece of writing that’s well worth picking up.
