Did I rate this 5 stars? Yes.
Was it perfect? No.
Was it what I wanted? Yes.
Let me explain.

I wanted unhinged mafioso. Super alpha male. Possessive, full of YOU'RE MINE and murder vibes. Kazimir ❤️KAGE❤️ delivered. He was just what I wanted in an mc. Chef's kiss. Perfection.

Nat(alie) was a great mc. She was Kage's queen. Ridiculous backstory was a plus. Spitfire, sassy, and bad ass. Loved her.

I LOATHED her bff Sloane. She's why I won't read the rest of the series - she's the fmc in the next book.

I wanted to get lost in the Bratva and the mafia ways, and this was an enjoyable book. I'm glad Kage and Nat got their happily ever after. Loved them.

I didn't love Sloane's narrative *read bullying* for Natalie to jump on any dick available while grieving [redacted]. Yes, move on, but her allosexual ranting about *just needing to find the right one* was a distraction I didn't want. Also, I'm pretty sure Sloane is aromantic/ demiromantic. It doesn't make her a villain. Her personality just sucks.

I haven't loathed a character (the side bff character Sloane) this much since KEVIN from Lark's Caffeine Daydream books.

So.  I still recommend this book. Especially if you're down for hetero mafia unhinged possessiveness. But also, there are plenty of other good ones out there, too. JT Gessinger is super popular, especially in the booktok community. The story was good, Sloane just really killed it for me.

Kage and Natalie were FIRE, though. And the plot was off the charts, especially near the end!
