catastrothree 's review for:
Imperium: A Novel of Ancient Rome
by Robert Harris
As a Classicist and someone who has had the 'pleasure' of studying Cicero at every level, it was definitely interesting for me to read an account in the voice of Tiro, of Cicero's rise to the consulship. Complex history was told in a much easier to digest way than the history books and my only regret is that I didn't read this and its sequel whilst I was still wading my way through his speeches. I can't wait until we get to the proper Catilinarian Conspiracy which I hope is going to be covered in the sequel.
