Cecily by Annie Garthwaite

5.0

I loved this book so much. It beautifully captures how the roles of wife and mother and politician were intertwined for noble women in the 15th century, and especially how Cecily Neville embodied that. Garthwaite portrays her as a nuanced, complicated, and smart woman. So often in historical fiction this can come off as conniving, but it just felt authentic in this novel. I borrowed this from the library but I will definitely be buying a copy!
