How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu

Did not finish book.
DNF @ 64 pages in. Was recommended by a friend, and I'm confident it has its merits, but a morbid, pandemic-centric short story collection is not my jam right now. Even so, I gave it 64 pages to hook me (a la The Road, which was also grim but gripping within moments), and i was not hooked. When I realized every story (bc let's be honest - they're not chapters - when you realize almost all the chapters were published as independent short stories, and then woven together later, you realize this is more story-cycle than novel - which is fine, but not my style), was going to be narrated in first person, I decided I'd had enough, because I wasn't about to spend a whole book full of death being irritated because I didn't know who was talking.
