4.5

Finally, I’ve conquered this... first half...

I’m enjoying this vastly more than The Way of Kings but it’s still not a true five star for me; perhaps when I reach the ending of WOR Part Two it will have earned it. For now it’s sitting at a 4.5.

I’m enjoying the characters much more than the first book. It only took 1100 pages of setup for them to feel important to me! Shallan in particular has some interesting character growth in this book, and I love seeing her interactions with the various other characters. Kaladin and Dalinar are less exciting to me, despite Dalinar being my favorite character in book one.

The pacing of this book is much better than book one as well. There are far more seemingly important plot points that arise even in the first half of the book.
