I kind of wish Maeve and Gideon could have stayed together, but her ending him— destroying the person who did see her was so powerful. usually in these horror novels of women being the perpetrators of violence they are horrendously bitchy outside of their proclivities but i liked maeve as a character. i appreciated how her insecurities showed up. i found myself wanting to quit reading once gideon went down to the cellar WHYYYYYY. i wish she could have had this one good thing but it wasn’t in the cards for her
