I have to be honest, when I first started reading 'F**k, Marry, Kill Me, Daddy' by Lance Lansdale, my first thought was 'What the hell am I reading?!'. Its was also my second and third thought. However, I then got absolutely hooked, and then some!
Right from the foreword 'warning' I could tell this would be unlike anything i'd previously read. I would say this book isn't for the faint hearted, but by the end, my heart was full.
Where to even start. Brody is a brooding hitman for hire, he's good at his job too. His latest mark is Scott, a sparkle twink with a side of kink. For some reason, after weeks of stalking and plotting, Brody just can't seem to finish the job.
It's all fun and games for Scotty, who is absolutely convinced his 'Murder Daddy' wouldn't hurt a hair on his head. Turns out, he's right. As Brody begins to enjoy the game too, they begin to form a relationship he never would have expected.
This book is a WILD ride. I am not certain I should have found a lot of this funny, but it read like a gritty dark comedy, and I was giggling while simultaneously being shocked at the story content. It was unhinged, bizarre at times, but absolutely addictive and oddly charming.
Scotty and Brody are a real match, I loved them. They are as deranged (in the cutest way, if that's even possible) as each other. The side characters are questionably sane too, but fantastic
Leave everything you know about MM romance behind, suspend your disbelief and this will grab you, just like it did me. I honestly loved every second of it.
Do however approach with caution, this might not be for you. Have a read of the trigger warnings and blurb before reading
The only way to fully grasp any of it, is to just read it. It is a great piece of writing, I will definitely be impatiently waiting for more from this series.
