A sweet and beautiful love story

-I would like to thank Ylva Publishing for the eARC-

When her husband gets shot at work, Stella's life falls appart. She doesn't know what to do with herself now that she isn't a wife and a lawyer. Inviting her niece to move in with her seems like a good idea... until she forces her to reconnect with a former collegue, captain of the LAPD, the woman who saw her husband die. Stella had always found the woman cold and hard to like, but, forced to spend time with her, she will discover who Elizabeth really is.

What I liked the most about this story was the characters. It's the first time I read a lesbian romance about two adult women in their forties/fifties and I found it absolutely adorable. The way they discovered a new side of their sexuality that they never really dared to try to understand before was really touching and beautifully written. The relationship between Stella and Elizabeth was truly inspiring. I loved how they got to know one another without all the predjudices of the workplace and how they became friends, and even more. It was very heartwarming to see them learn about love together. The writing was exquisite and I loved the metaphors the author used to describe how Stella felt when Elizabeth was here, it was adorable and funny at the same time. The romance was just so natural and realistic that it made my heart cry of joy. I was really touched by this beautiful story and can't wait to read more books by Emily!

I highly recommand if you want a sweet, beautiful love story between two women who learn to discover one another and themselves.
