Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan

4.0

For a book titled 'Rich People Problems' it really delivered.
It was opulent, showy, elegant, exorbitant. The amazing and extraordinairy people whose lives are narrated are just beyond belief.
But also... they're beyong belief in that they're frustrating. I could have thrown my book at some of those ignorsnt hypocrites if I'd had the chance. The running trope of the incapability of the characters who can't fulfill the aimple task of getting a drink if water for a desperately sick invalid filled me with such annoyance - but when the invalid's granddaughter calmly gets a glass of water and helps the invalid to drink it, that anger was washed out and replaced with calm.
The history and cultural descriptions were unexpected and a real treat. It ins enticing me to look at it in more depth.
Kevin Kwan's descriptions and plots elicited such strong emotions, and overall I really enjoyed this book.
