Ace: What Asexuality Reveals about Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex by Angela Chen

informative medium-paced

4.0

Docked a star because there are points where Chen makes things seem a little too black and white in parts, and others where the line is so gray that it feels as if this grayness is its losing its purpose. Plus, this book is mostly focused on US attitudes, it would have been cool to have a little more on the experiences of aces in other cultures. But perhaps that’s just a topic for another book. :)

It’s a comforting read for aces; it’s nice to be constantly validated and emphasized with, and a lot of the experiences shared within the book were incredibly relatable, but I do think this book is a better read for allos who want to learn more about asexuality than aces who have already come to terms with their sexuality. Overall a nice, informative read and would definitely recommend to others.
