If you are a fan of the sisters’ writing you’ll enjoy this book. It has all their wit and humor we all love firmly in place. This got 3 stars because I feel like it could have been about 150-200 pages shorter. The story felt like it came to a very natural climax and cliffhanger to start off the next book… and then kept going. Still ends on a huge cliffhanger (as is the way of the sisters) and I did enjoy the story and the characters, it just felt like too much of the same things being said over and over again which made me start skimming whole sections that felt irrelevant. Will I read the next book? Of course! I’d like to see some more of that spice the sisters are known for in the next books as this one definitely had a YA, slow burn vibe.
Side note - if you read the novella (A Kingdom of Gods and Ruin) you can skip almost all of Kyras chapters in the beginning…not saying you *should* skip them, but I definitely skimmed quickly because they’re nearly word for word the novella.
