This is not a thriller and I think it does a dissservice to readers to describe it that way. It deserves higher ratings. It's a book about the aftermath of trauma and living with mental illness in a world that doesn't see black women as 100% human or deserving of care. It's rare to get a book that deals with mental health with a black woman as the main character. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
