“The world ain't straight. You grow up thinking things are a certain way. You think there are rules. You think there's a way that things have to be. You try to live straight. But the world doesn't care about your rules, or what you believe. The world ain't straight, Vivian. Never will be.”

To be honest I was a bit sceptical of this book at first, I thought it was going to be another chic lit, romance story, but I was DEAD wrong!!
I really loved this book! Set in New York City in the 1940s, the vibes were IMMACULATE!! I felt like I was in NYC with Vivvie, experiencing her life with her, the ups and the downs!
Vivvie the main character goes on such a journey and it was amazing to read! There was characters that you loved one chapter and hated the next, but in the best way possible. Shoutout to Olive, Mr. Herbert and Frank
