For me this is literary escapism at its best - historical fiction set in antiquity, compelling female lead, exciting and tense plot, forbidden love….I could go on. If you loved Circe, Song of Achilles, Clytemnestra, etc. I highly recommend this series. The Wolf Den is set in the real world, in ancient Pompeii—which is so richly described by the author, I was totally immersed and transported into Amara’s world. For me this novel walks a perfect line between the entertainment of a tense, exciting drama and the historical element which feels well researched and realistic. So if you’re a nerd for ancient history and love a quality, escapist page-turner this is for you!
