🎇My review w/ spoliers
This book talks about past love, tradition, familial duty, grief, death, power, trauma acceptance, forgiveness and community.
I loved seeing a mother as a main character ( Misaki Matsuda)with super powers, determinations, and not afraid to fight when shit gets nuts. She struggled with tradition, her marriage, and bitterness.
Mamarou ( her son) pulled at my heart. He was a dedicated older brother and student. The quintessential teenage boy who wants/ seek the approval of his Father. I enjoyed seeing how he help hiz mother with the smaller children
Takeru Matsuda-- I couldn't stand him. He was abrupt and cold. However, as the story progressed I realize he endured childhood trauma & observed the dysfunctional marriage of his parents. Sadly to coop with human emotions that became to much; he became the Mountain of Takayubi.
🎇This book made me cry😢. One particular chapter broke me. That was chapter 20. I had tears in my eyes yall. I felt that.
🎇 chapters are LONG🙃--- worth it.
🎇Overall I loved the world she created, the back stories, the complex charcters/supportive charcters, origin story, power system, and the process of grief.
The Sword of Kaigen gave me all the Avatar the Last Airbender vibe ---Water Bending Vibes🌊.
Any author that can invoke visceral emotions, amazing fight scene,and well rounded story. Is a book to read.

👊🏾 I looking forward to book two. I want to see the progression of Hiroshi ( cause this little 5 yr old is killa😂)
