I liked this much better than fourth wing. We got to see strong character development, portrayal of complex relationship dynamics, and the sacrifices made during resistance to oppression. Yarros illustrated the complexity of choice very well. It had much more heft to it than I the “enemies to lovers” story of fourth wing. This represented complex and prioritized friendships and family relationships, as well as communication dynamics of romantic relationships. It felt overall like a more mature book.
