This is a dark academia fantasy book filled to the brim with political allegory and musings over morality. If that's not your cup of tea, this book is not for you. However, if you want to rage at fictional injustices (that have obvious parallels in our world), then this book may be for you!
I loved the characters and I personally enjoyed the political allegories. Parts of the book were 5-star worthy. The main character is a deeply flawed protagonist, but as an autistic woman I definitely related to her in many ways.
The worldbuilding is a bit flat. Not terribly so, it's not "Temu Tolkien" or anything like that. It has some original ideas, but it's not very layered. I did quite enjoy the detail in the magic system!
