This book brings forth all negative aspects in Terry’s writing for The Sword of Truth series: it is too preachy, needlessly long, and with too many recaps. Richard makes his moral stand when he first encounters Owen… must we really read everything again when he joins with the rest of the Bandakar? Then, a similar situation happens with D’Haran history and how the pristinely ungifted were banish… we were told this 3 times! In detail!
There was almost zero development in this story, I feel like The Pillars of Creation and Naked Empire could have been one single book.
