millielou2002 's review for:
The Names They Gave Us
by Emery Lord
Reread
Makes me want to cry on every page, whilst also making me incredibly, painfully grateful for my mum. I loved it the first time I read it and this time was no exception. The friendships between the characters are so beautiful, there is effortless, natural Black and trans representation, the growth of the protagonist is profound, and I just adore Emery Lord's books.
TW: abuse, bullying
