Another spooky, supernatural mystery from Simone St. James. At this point I'll read anything she writes. I breezed through this in two days. There was never a single moment where I wanted the plot to speed up or the characters to get their heads out of their asses. Eddie and April are flawed but show a lot of growth, and they make a strong team. There are also some interesting supporting characters (the Snell sisters!). Unfortunately, the setting wasn't as vivid in my mind as some of her other books, which took away from the overall creepy vibes I was hoping for. I think a little more description of the road and the surrounding area would go a long way. However, the main reason I gave this 3.5 star and not a full 4 is because it's just a little too far fetched to me that Eddie's mother would suddenly somehow get a hook into his brain and lure him to her, when he apparently spent time a few miles away and nothing happened then. Of course the whole thing unravels without that connection, but it didn't quite work for me.
