A masterpiece in all but ethics. There is magnificent prose and his iceberg theory is used masterfully. However, I believe bullfighting is an abhorrent ritual that needs to be abolished and should never be tolerated. Hemingways reverence for it, while thematically rich, simply does not work and does not feel tasteful. This novel is genius, but my own ethics hold me back from fully appreciating this novel. That being said, I’m excited to read more Hemingway.
