Heart of the Land by Sarah Prineas
5.0
On pg. 5, Abeke says she knows better than anyone else that the Wyrm's influence couldn't be easily forgotten after Conor keeps rubbing his forehead. Conor was taken control of and forced to betray his friends. I'm pretty sure he's the one that knows better than everyone else. And she says it was "somehow worse for him." He was literally mind controlled lol. Having your spirit animal taken away is terrible, but at least you weren't mind controlled.
Wow, Anka and her chameleon are the first to have something about an animal be correct. Chameleons change their color and texture based on their surroundings, not their mood. I'm pleasantly surprised that someone finally got something right!
Overall, I'm really happy with this one. I was worried after the ending of the last book these last three would just be nonsense to drag the series out more, but at least Prineas did it well!
I'm glad Worthy got a redemption arc. I like Anka. I like how the heart worked like a talisman. Ultimately, I don't have too much to say about it. It was a good addition to the story that I enjoyed.
The fights were exciting, the character development was on point, and the animal knowledge was finally right. Couldn't ask for more!
