I would recommend this book for anyone interested in medicine. A very interesting read about the corruptions of medicine in 1930s Britain. As a doctor said to me, it’s a good reminder that corruption in medicine is not new! The characters were well flushed out and felt real which made the hard hitting parts of the book more emotionally devastating. The one critique of this book is pacing: the first 75% was painfully slow at times and then the last 25% was SO fast. Having a slow paced book is fine, but it is weird to then hit your reader with about 100 action items right before the book ends. Some of the earlier sections of this book could have been shortened and the end of the book definitely could have been drawn out so that the emotional impact of the events could have been more intense for the reader. But overall, a great read!
