Oh I’m sorry to see this series end! Such a complicated, interesting, emotional story.

The bad first: the pacing in this final book is different than the first 2. There were interesting threads that were only a couple chapters, then we moved on. I would have liked more Rome/Pompeii corssover.

The good!! Amara, as always! She is so powerful when she choses to be. I’m so proud of her for finally, FINALLY, cutting the final bits of cord between her and Felix. I view their relationship as a woman trying to escape a violent abusive husband, and it continued to take so much from her even after she escaped him physically.
The relationships between the women. They’re so supportive and loving! Women holding each other up. Rufina is a glorious little person.
Finally, the description of Vesuvius’ eruption, the escape, and briefly, the refugee experience! Really fascinating.
