Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage: Stories by Alice Munro

4.0

These are the first [a:Alice Munro|6410|Alice Munro|http://www.goodreads.com/images/nophoto/nophoto-F-50x66.jpg] stories I've ever read. Wow. They are amazing. I understand why she was so acclaimed. The depth of the stories, the characters, the variety and yet bound by common themes (this particular collection, at least, that theme is women's relationships, as reflected by the book title). I was often startled by the abrupt endings, but nonetheless the endings were appropriate. Some stories stuck with me more than others, but that's to be expected. The stories would make excellent material for women's book clubs, too.

I will definitely read more Munro.
