This is a book adapted by Charles Osbourne from Agatha Christie's play, The Unexpected Guest. Here's what I'm thinking: I give the book 0 stars for Charles's failure to adapt this into a compelling novel, and I give four stars for Agatha Christie being the genius she is. Overall, we've got ourselves a three-star book, baby.

Some of you may be wondering: what was so wrong with Charles Osbourne's adaptation (*whispers* literally everything)? Well that's a great question! I've listed just some of the ways in which it hashtag bombed:

1. Multiple spelling and grammar mistakes (this could be the fault of the edition I have, but I've decided to blame Charles.).
2. ZERO ways in which this play-to-novel adaptation added anything to the story. Charles straight up copy and pasted Christie's play and formatted it into a book. I JUST READ A WHOLE BOOK OF STAGE DIRECTIONS. THAT IS LITERALLY IT.
3. I cannot believe Charles profited off of Agatha Christie's name when he clearly did nothing to deserve it. HOW DARE YOU.

That's all I got for now. I'm sure more will come to me when I wake in fury at the thought of Charles at midnight tonight so stay tuned.

If you can get your hands on the play – read it, but don't waste your time with Mr. Charles. We do not stan Mr. Charles.
