π˜“π˜ͺ𝘨𝘩𝘡𝘭𝘒𝘳𝘬 isn't an exceptional or unique read but it's definitely an entertaining one. Lucky for me I picked it up when I was in the mood for just that.

It's easy to read through in the sense that it keeps you hooked. Secrets are everywhere, the stakes are dangerously high and there's a deadline at work. The narrator is highly unreliable and you don't know what can be trusted. I must admit, I didn't see the twists coming at all! I was left staring at the wall with my mouth hanging open more times than I can count. The only suspicion I had was for Celeste. Extremely satisfied and wowed by the way every single "final truth" played out, they made sense in a genuinely possible way and didn't feel like roughly planted stones!

The story is character driven in its nature. Isla was a likeable enough main character. Of course she has her flaws with her tendency to trust so easily in a game that centres around betrayal but it's reasonable enough due to her sheltered (caged) backstory. She's resilient and keeps going on with her head held up despite things repeatedly going shit, which is something I liked a lot. Grim a.k.a. the darkness wielding bad boy with quite a bit of charm as a character could've been explored more but yeah with the way things ended I strongly dislike him and I hope he stays away from Isla now. I was almost warming up to him but oh well, I was team Oro to begin with lol. Oro was by far my most favourite character. I loved him, this exhausted precious baby bean who's so soft despite trying to come off as a firm uncaring king. Especially as his screen time (or should I say page time?) increased, he started feeling more and more like comfort and safety really.

There's some elements definitely underdeveloped in the story, especially backgrounds of certain characters or even the setting itself, but it's enjoyable nonetheless. I'll be looking forward to the sequel!
