French Wanker by Victoria Pinder

2.0

The blurb of French Wanker was promising. A sexy Frenchman to cure a broken heart during a holiday in Europe. But, sadly, the execution fell short.

It is an instant love story. Very instant. They meet on page 2 of chapter 1, and by the fourth day they are together they are already in love. And I wouldn't have minded the glorified one-night stand turned almost week-long affair had the characters been convincing and had I connected with them.

There were some interesting background issues that, told differently and given the right weight, could have made the story so much more interesting. Yet, they felt rushed and washed down to the point that some passed as bad jokes. When Kara asks Quentin how his relationship with his ex-fiance ended, he replied "in silence." *spoiler* she died.

The book is full of cliches. There is a lot of repetition. Quentin is French/British and, besides some phrases in French, he sounds very American (American sayings and words). The cameos by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's characters felt forced and not believable. They didn't sound like the originals. Lastly, the book has some serious editing issues.
