Ariadne by Jennifer Saint

First of all, the writing was breathtaking. There were so many beautiful metaphors, impactful lines, and allusions to other figures in Greek mythology. What really struck me the most were the differences between Ariadne and Phaedra, in their narrations, emotions, tones, etc. Despite being similar at a quick glance, they’re very unique which I loved. What I think makes the book so real and relatable is that even though the women and their stories were feminist at heart, they kept falling for and trusting men, only to regret that in the end. Honestly, I could spew praises forever, but this is the gist. I have no complaints. This was Barbie for Greek mythology girlies (I’m joking, but I’m also not joking).
This book made me feel hopeful, but then it tore apart that hope like the maenads tore apart that goat. I am devastated.
It reminded me a lot of Circe by Madeline Miller and Lies We Sing to the Sea by Sarah Underwood.
