No foolin’ this is a great biography. Senik knows how to tell a story, and he knows how to write about history—some nerdy details about the gold standard and then a bit of juicy gossip about Cleveland’s very young wife, Francis. Seriously, this book is inspiring. You may not agree with Cleveland’s views (like his anti-suffragette stance), but he Is a man of character and integrity. In an era where character does not seem to matter, it’s refreshing. Cleveland, as Senik notes, is a rebuke to political cynicism. Yes, a man of integrity can get elected. Anyway, I am not a history buff, but this bio may convert me. Excellent.
