I remember when the Trojan War was first mentioned in school and my teacher casually mentioned that it took Odysseus ten years to get back to Ithaca after the war was over. I thought to myself that the guy might have been a great warrior, but his sense of orientation must have sucked. Fast forward to today and I can say that I am glad it took the guy ten years. Homer's Odyssey is, like the Iliad, a timeless classic with magnificent tales of a man's journey. It can get a bit boring at certain instances, but overall it's a magnificent work that is well worth the read.
