You must go into this blind. You WILL be scared, and you WON"T know why. My skin is still crawling. Reid's writing in this short literary thriller is extremely effective and accomplishes exactly what I'm sure he had in mind. Definitely will be rereading and annotating this one later.
If I have one critique, it is that I do wish the story did have an actual supernatural element to it. I do appreciate the twist of there not being any "monsters" (besides maybe the ones in the character's own mind), but I like to think of an alternate universe where we did get a more supernatural explanation for the events in this book. I think it would be just as effective in a different way. Just personal taste, really.
